Woman robbed in Portage

A woman escaped injury when she was robbed last night in the 700 block of Saskatchewan Avenue W.
Portage la Prairie RCMP received a complaint of the female pedestrian being robbed Nov. 2 at about 7 p.m.
Investigation revealed that a 40-year-old female was walking in the back lane north of Saskatchewan Avenue W. in the 700 block when an unknown male approached her. The suspect grabbed the victim's backpack and she lost her balance, falling to the ground. The male then made off on foot with the backpack containing an undisclosed amount of cash and personal effects.
There were no weapons reported, and the victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as being about 5'9'' tall, wearing faded blue jeans and a black hooded sweater.
The backpack was black with blue and grey.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 857-4445
The investigation is continuing.
