Terriers take two big games against Steelers in weekend home-and-home

The Portage Terriers are 4-0-1 in their last five games, moving into second place in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Sher-Wood Division with two big wins in a home-and-home with the Selkirk Steelers this weekend.
In a rematch of the MJHL's league final from the 2008-09 campaign, the Dogs defeated the Steelers in Portage on Oct. 30 4-2 and again in Selkirk Saturday evening 5-2. Rookie netminder Jason Kasdorf was solid between the pipes in both outings.
Having one two tough outings in a row, Terriers bench boss Blake Spiller was on the fence as to whether the team expected to come out with four points. "You always kind of expect to win, but Selkirk is a pretty tough team in their own barn, so maybe not expecting to win, but at the end of the day if we bring what we brought the past couple games, we're capable of beating everybody in this league."
The first game, the Terriers got on the board first as Kajon McKay beat Steelers netminder Joey Rewucki at 3:53 with a short-handed marker.
The Steelers came out flying in the second, however, dismantling the Terriers' penalty kil twice in the early goings of the period with powerplay goals at 30 seconds and 7:56 to take a 2-1 lead. The first was a slapshot just inside the line beating Kasdorf high, blocker side.
